Opened in June 2015, the ladies eveningwear department at Harrods (owned by The Qatar Investment Authority) houses the finest pieces from the world’s most sought after eveningwear brands. Reed Harris was commissioned by David Collins Studio and Harrods to produce a stunning marble floor which befits the luxurious surroundings of this beautiful retail room.
Three different marbles were selected to form a unique 3d geometric pattern with each piece of stone individually cut, mounted onto an 830x830mm stone backing, bonded in place and polished to provide a highly reflective seamless finish.
Neil Walker, Reed Harris’ Architectural Sales Manager comments “We worked very closely with David Collins and Harrods to ensure their expectations for this amazing floor were fulfilled. This involved two trips to Italy to initially inspect the selected stones in slab form prior to fabrication and then to approve the completed tiles dry laid at our suppliers workshop. Also during the manufacturing process we had individual photos taken of each tile which were forwarded to Harrods and David Collins for comment before being returned to our suppliers so any necessary adjustments could be incorporated. When working with bespoke stone of this nature it’s vitally important to keep the quality control extremely tight at every stage of the process.”
